Licensing of EPIC: A Smart Wearable Epilepsy Monitoring Unit

The transfer of 4 more to the industry this year has taken the overall count of transferred IPRs to 40.
The licensing agreement for “EPIC: A Smart Wearable Epilepsy Monitoring Unit” was signed on Dec 08,2020 between NUST and RiseTech Pvt Ltd.The IPs belong to Dr. Sajid Gul Khawaja of CEME The developed system has the potential of bringing a major shift in the Biomedical devices developed in Pakistan.
EPIC is a wearable band that provides a cost effective solution to detect generalized tonic–clonic seizure (GTS) from muscle activity of patients by capturing Surface Electromyography (sEMG) signals. The device is coupled with mobile application to notify the caregiver of the patient regarding epileptic activity and the current location of the patient for timey assistance.
